The family
About Humanizer.com
Gravity Press is one of a small family of sites run by HUMANIZER.COM LLC. On the surface they have little in common. A notebook press. A reading room. A studio for your own archive. Underneath, they are one commitment: to teach, and to keep practising, the phenomenology of the subjective perspective.
That is a heavy phrase for a plain observation. You have never been anywhere but here. Everything you know about the world, including the parts that hold whether or not anyone is thinking about them, arrives one moment at a time, in a mind, in a body, and then gives way so the next thing can arrive. The sciences describe a universe with nobody in it. The describing is always done by somebody. Taking that seriously, without denying a single thing the sciences say, is what we mean by the subjective perspective. The sites came afterward. The philosophy was first.
The moon and the three rings
Every site in the family carries the same mark: a moon with three rings. The moon is us. A body in orbit around something larger, carried along whether or not we understand it. Knowing is beside the point of being carried. It comes later, and it takes effort.
The rings are not walls. They are the lens we see through, and the only way we have of seeing ourselves.
The inner ring is the Corporeal. The body and its senses, the weight of a pen, the light in the room: the particular, sparkling flow of a life as it is actually lived, before anyone names any of it.
The middle ring is the Subjective. Every act of consciousness is in it. It is the light by which anything is seen at all, and the inner eye that registers what the seeing means for the one who is here.
The outer ring is the Objective. Everything we know, think we know, think someone else knows, or heard from someone who read something and told us what it meant. It is enormous and shared, and it is never met directly. It exists while it is being run: in one mind, with limited context, limited experience, and limited time before something has to be done.
Each mark has one warm colour, in one place: the moment something is actually made. A page under the press. A word that lands. A note kept.
The sites
DreegleA studio for your own archive, on your own machine.
Post-SocialA reading room with a curator beside every text. No likes, no ranking.
Gravity PressFinished work, printed one copy at a time. This press is Tem's own.
Dreegle keeps what you have written and talks back from it. Post-Social gives writing readers. Gravity Press gives it paper and ink. Each one is built so that the choosing stays with the person using it.
humanizer.com is the family's home. Tem Noon registered the domain in the late nineties with one idea: a tool that takes your notebooks and answers in your own words. It is still the idea.
